Summit Chorale

- New Jersey's oldest active choral organization
- an important element in New Jersey's musical environment
- a contributor to community cultural life, with outreach programs free to the public
- a qualified 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, founded in 1909

- a leader in adventurous programming, premiering and commissioning works by New Jersey composers, presenting first-time local performances of other masterpieces, and performing lesser-known works by great composers of the past (some of whom are also lesser-known themselves)
- E X C E L L E N C E
- one of New Jersey's premiere choruses, offering exciting performances of fine choral music from medieval times to today
- a select ensemble of talented volunteer singers
- a flexible vocal instrument, varying from 15 to 100 voices depending on the program
- a guest chorus with leading orchestras and other organizations in the region
Summit Chorale
also has a rich heritage and long history of music-making. We also have an important mission to guide all of the organization's goals. These goals are achieved entirely through the voluntary efforts of our members.
Summit Chorale
members:
- are selected by audition
- are drawn from 36 communities in Union, Essex, Morris, Middlesex, Somerset and Warren Counties in New Jersey, and also from Pennsylvania and New York
- range in age from the twenties to seniors
- come from all walks of life, many with extensive musical training or experience
- pay annual dues and purchase their own scores
- collectively spend over 10,000 hours each year in rehearsals and concerts
- contribute over 2,500 hours annually in publicity and fundraising efforts, ticket sales and concert staging
- are active in their own communities
- elect their own Executive Board to administer the organization
