Summit Chorale Announces Second Hearing Competition to Celebrate its 100th Season
Summit Chorale invites composers to submit an original composition that has recently premiered and
is still not well known among choral singers. Composition will be an SATB vocal arrangement, either a cappella or accompanied. A maximum of 3 entries per composer will be permitted.
Award:
- The selected composition will be performed at Summit Chorale’s March Majesty Concert on March 14th, 2009.
- $1,500 Cash Award
Submission materials for each entry:
- 7 original copies of the full score, produced using any music-based computer software (no handwritten manuscripts).
- A CD recording of the piece as performed during the composition’s premier
- Completed entry form
- Current resume or curriculum vitae
Other Information:
- For accompanied music, arrangement must be scored for 4 instrumentalists or less, excluding piano accompaniment.
- Submissions to be no less than 5 and no more than 15 minutes.
- Winner understands and accepts that the concert will be recorded and CDs will be available for sale.
- Scores and recording will not be returned.
- Composer will be asked to provide a pre-concert talk regarding his/her piece.
