United Methodist Church in Madison
24 Madison Avenue, Madison, NJ 07940-1433
Directions - Area Information

From Newark Airport vicinity - Garden State Parkway, NJ Turnpike, etc.
- Proceed on Interstate 78 West.
- Exit from Interstate 78 toward Morristown onto NJ Route 24.
- Exit from NJ Route 24 at the NJ Route 124 West/Chatham exit, exit number 7A. Because this area is rather confusing, be careful to watch signs and avoid taking an incorrect ramp. From NJ Route 124 there is a ramp for exits 7B and 7A (labeled "Exits 7B-A") - this dumps you on the service road. Once on the service road, exit 7A is the second ramp (after the River Road ramp).
- Immediately upon merging with traffic from JFK Parkway, you will take the next exit for NJ Route 124 West/Chatham.
- Proceed on NJ Route 124 (also called Main Street and Madison Avenue) westbound for approximately 2.6 miles, through thirteen (13) traffic lights.
- At the twelfth (12) traffic light you must bear to the left at the fork. This will take you under the train overpass. If you have lost count of the lights, this is near the Museum of Early Trades and Crafts and after you have passed through most of the "downtown" area of Madison.
- The thirteenth (13) light is immediately after the train overpass. You must now pay close attention to the buildings on the left-hand side of the road.
- Immediately after the thirteenth light you will see Grace Episcopal Church, followed by four (4) houses, followed by the United Methodist Church in Madison.
- Turn left into the church driveway, which is between the fourth house and the church.
From Summit and vicinity
- The best route is to get onto NJ Route 24 and follow the directions above for "From Newark Airport vicinity".
- If you are coming from the west edge of town, following River Road north/east, you will follow signs toward Madison and NJ Route 24 West just before you reach the Short Hills Mall. Follow this ramp around onto the service road and then watch for exit 7A, as decribed above.
- There are some other routes (e.g., Southern Boulevard northbound) through Chatham and Madison) that may be more convenient. Consult a map for additional details.
From Millburn, Livingston and vicinity
- The best route is to get onto NJ Route 24 west and follow the directions above for "From Newark Airport vicinity".
- If you are coming from the west edge of town, following JFK Parkway south, you will follow signs toward Madison and Chatham and enter NJ Route 124 (Main Street in Chatham) directly - this occurs in the area of the Short Hills Mall.
- There are some other routes (e.g., Passaic Avenue or Ridgedale Avenue) through Chatham and Madison) that may be more convenient. Consult a map for additional details.
From Morristown and points North, South or West
- Proceed on Interstate 287 to Exit 35.
- If coming from the North, this will be the Madison Avenue exit. At the end of the ramp (at the light), make a left onto Madison Avenue.
- If coming from the South, this will be the South Street exit. At the end of the ramp (at the light), make a left onto South Street. Proceed in the right-hand lane and use the next exit, following the signs for the Hospital and Route 124 East. At the end of this little street, make a right onto Madison Avenue at the stop sign.
- Once on Madison Avenue (also called Main Street and NJ Route 124), proceed approximately 3.25 miles, through eight (8) traffic lights.
- At the third light, be careful to bear right at the fork in the road. This is easily identifiable as the intersection where the Friendly's restaurant is.
- At the seventh light, be careful not to accidentally exit onto Loantaka Way.
- The eight light is Lancaster Road/Elm Street. Watch for the brick wall on the right hand side of the road - this is the front of the the Drew University campus.
- Just after the brick wall ends there is a metal gate (the third and last entrance into the Drew campus), followed by the United Methodist Church in Madison, followed by several houses.
- Turn right into the church driveway, which is between the church and the first of the houses.
