Summit Chorale is New Jersey's oldest active choral organization, celebrating our 100th year during the 2008-2009 season. Led by Interim Artistic Director, Darlene Wyzga, this season will host Guest Conductors, Dr. Anne Matlack, Dr. Thomas Juneau and Mark Miller.
During our season we perform masterworks of choral literature as well as innovative concerts of varied musical styles. We strive for repertoire that will challenge our singers and appeal to a wide audience. Recently performed major works include Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass, Poulenc's Gloria, and Brahms' Ein Deutsches Requiem. We have commissioned works from area composers and are looking forward to a special musical event in commemoration of our 100th anniversary. Our Family Holiday Sing has become a favorite annual event.
Summit Chorale is a volunteer chorus made up of experienced singers who span both volunteer and professional singing backgrounds and draws its members from central and northern New Jersey. In addition to singing concerts and weekly rehearsals, members volunteer in publicity and fundraising efforts, ticket sales, program publication, and concert staging. The Board of Trustees, elected by the regular membership, is comprised of singing members and community leaders.
